SHARE YOUR SOBER JOY

With the holiday season in full swing many become caught up in the gift-giving process. Though material gifts are one way to show appreciation, love, and kindness to those around you, it is not the only way. For everyone, but especially those folks that are on their recovery journey, there is another way to show love, kindness, and selflessness.

One way to cultivate lasting recovery and give while doing so is to help others. Research done by Dr. Maria Pagano, Ph.D., shows that individuals that attended more AA meetings and helped others in recovery through service work reported a long-term increase in their own sobriety.

This is not new news, as support groups began with the core belief that helping others is integral to an individual’s recovery. Though it may not be new news, it is good news to hear that there are ways to keep yourself sober while helping others! Read on to find local ways to help.

SO WHAT DOES IT DO?

• Helping others reminds you of how far you have come in your recovery and reinforces your sobriety.
• Helping other helps decrease depression and anxiety.
• Helping others increases your self-esteem and your self-confidence.

FOLLOW ALONG THIS YEAR AS WE LEAD UP TO DECEMBER 25TH WITH 12 DAYS OF SOBER CHRISTMAS! EACH DAY, WE WILL BE OPENING UP A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE DIFFERENT GIFTS WE HAVE RECEIVED SINCE BECOMING SOBER. THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN ON DECEMBER 13TH, SO KEEP AN EYE ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE TO SEE WHAT GIFTS WE FIND!

12 DAYS OF SOBER CHRISTMAS – WHAT RECOVERY GAVE TO ME.

Let’s reflect on the gifts we have been given since we got sober.

ON THE 10TH AND 11TH OF DEC, COME SEE US AT HUNT + GATHER! WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN BOOTH STOCKED WITH MERCH AND SMILING HEARTLAND FACES!

This month always seems to go by the quickest. Before we all know it, it will be time to ring in the New Year! Enjoy the moments with loved ones, and we hope you continue to have a safe, happy, and warm holiday season!
